aMERICAN EXPRESS PLATINUM
WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE IT

Digital Entertainment Credit
This is one of the easier credits to use. Matt just signed up for Disney plus with Hulu and ESPN, and used his Platinum card for payment. At the time of writing this, the total cost was $35.99 and we were automatically credited $25.00. This gives us a great mix of live sport, movies, and TV shows.
Marianne also has the Platinum card, and we use her credit for YouTube Premium. We use her credit for YouTube Premium. For us, the main benefit of this is to be able to watch YouTube videos without ads. It also allows us to download videos so we can watch them offline, especially when we are flying. Another great perk with this membership is that it includes YouTube Music, but we are yet to use this, as we already have Apple Music through a different credit card perk. Using this perk leaves us just $1.99 out of pocket for this fantastic service.
Both of the above are part of our digital entertainment strategy, where we try to pay as little as possible for our favourite services.

Walmart Plus Credit
This is incredibly useful for us, and although it may seem that there would be no reason for two people living in the same household to have the credit, it comes with one distinct benefit - more digital streaming. Every Walmart+ membership comes with Paramount+ or Peacock. Since we both have Platinum cards, we can have access to both services.
Apart from streaming, Walmart+ has many other perks. One that many people wouldn’t know about is that it includes an annual membership to Pawp, a telehealth platform where we can text or video with licensed veterinary professionals 24/7. Last year we were on a road trip, and we used this when our dog was sick. We were able to upload pictures, and were given a course of action. The value of this is $99.00 annually, but it is free with Walmart+ membership, and for us, the piece of mind it gave us was priceless.
Another great perk of this membership is being able to get 10 cents per gallon at thousands of locations nationwide. We live near a Murphy gas station, and generally, it is the cheapest in our area. All we have to do is open the Walmart+ app, follow a few basic directions, and it gives us a number to type into the pump that drops the prices by 10 cents per gallon every visit.
Apart from the above, the membership has many similarities to an Amazon Prime Membership. As we have this as well, I often search both apps for the best deal available. Although, I tend to use Amazon more for goods, and Walmart more for groceries.
To receive this credit, you need to enroll in it on the Amex app, and then join Walmart+ using the monthly payment method only, using your Amex Platinum card as the method of payment. You will see the charge post on your account, soon followed by the credit.

Resy Credit
The $100 quarterly Resy credit is one of our favourite perks. We live in an area with around 2 dozen restaurants that will trigger the Resy credit. We recently found a local Thai restaurant we love, and we also frequent a local bbq place. Both qualify for the Resy credit. We often plan ahead with this, and look for restaurants that will trigger the credit in our travels. We soon have a couple of days planned for Vegas, and there’s a Brazilian Steakhouse there that we can’t wait try.
Sometimes we use this credit over a couple of visits, which gives us a lot of value when we get food to go. Other times we will eat at a more expensive restaurant, and use the entire credit in one sitting. We really like how having the credit allows us to try restaurants new to us, and having two platinum cards, we use it quite a bit.
To trigger the credit, we had to open a free Resy account, and then link it to our Amex accounts. Then we use the Resy app to look for restaurants that will trigger the credit, then we just pay with the Platinum card when we dine there. A few days after the restaurant charges post to our account, we see the credit.

Uber & Uber One Credit
This is a two part credit. Firstly, we enrolled in Uber One. The Amex platinum card will cover up to $120 annually, and Uber One can be paid monthly for $9.99, or annually for $96.00. We chose the annual membership, made our Amex Platinum as the direct payment method for the transaction, and the credit was posted a few days later. NOTE: If you are doing this, make sure your Uber cash is toggled off for this transaction, otherwise it will use whatever Uber cash you have instead of charging it to your Amex Platinum card, and the credit won’t be issued.
Uber One comes with a variety of perks, like eliminating some delivery fees, discounts on some orders, and some uber credits that are earned from rides.
This card also gives us monthly Uber credits that add up to $200 annually. Mostly, we use this for grocery deliveries through Uber Eats, but occasionally, we’ll use it for rides. We also look for discounted Uber gift cards to add to our account to compensate for any fees that a grocery order may have. Costco can be a really good resource for this, sometimes selling gift cards at a 20% discount.

Lululemon Credit
Each quarter we go into a Lululemon store or shop online. It can be pretty expensive, but we look for discounts. The credit won’t work at the warehouse, so we make sure not to shop there. We each get $75 every 3 months, so we try to keep our purchases close to that amount. This has been great to find presents for family and friends.

Hotel Credit
This has been huge for us. From stays on the Las Vegas Strip to the Four Seasons looking over Sydney Harbour, this credit has afforded us to stay in some hotels we would have otherwise struggled to afford. MaxFHR is a website we use to get ideas on how to get the most value out of these credits. These stays can also come with incredible perks, like hotel credit, late check-outs, early check-ins, room upgrades. We each get a $300 credit every 6 months.

Airline Fee Credit
Amex gives us both $200 for airline incidentals. We have to choose which airline we want to use this credit every January. We have already booked our flights for next Summer, and we are flying with American and Alaskan, so we will each choose one of them. I plan on using these for lounge access before our flights.

Clear Plus Credit and TSA PreCheck
Our Platinum cards come with both of these, and we will use them to get through security as quickly as possible so we can get to those lounges and start enjoying ourselves.

Oura Ring Credit
This is another great perk we take advantage of annually. It covers each of us for $200 annually. We wait for a great sale or an additional coupon. Earlier this year, Marianne used her credit stacked with a coupon that was in the Clear Plus membership to get hers. I’m waiting for Black Friday sales, where hopefully, the new model is on sale. The credit covers the purchase only, and we had to pay for the subscription separately.

Airport Lounge Access
We have several cards that give us lounge access, and the Platinum card is fantastic for this because it combines Priority Pass entry with entry into Centurion lounges. Earlier this year we flew Delta premium economy, and because we had the Platinum card,we were able to go into the Delta lounges in Seattle and Los Angeles. It was an amazing experience.
